NRSF workshop - Sunday 9 December 2007

Nearly thirty members of the North Ronaldsay Sheep Fellowship converged on the little village of Willey on the Warwickshire boundary close to the Leicestershire border on Sunday 9 December.

Braving intermittent showers on a somewhat chilly day, delegates were able to see a range of sheep breeds belonging to the Cassie-Wainwright family who hosted the event, though focus was predominantly on matters specific to North Ronaldsays. Topics under discussion included foot-trimming, fleece use, animal health/husbandry and showmanship. Cathy Wainwright and Darren Cassie shared their knowledge with 'hands-on' explanations and guidance in relation to regular sheep matters.

After the morning meet, workshop delegates found solace from the cold in the local hostelry for a superb warming roast by a roaring log fire. Lunch was followed by a short rare breeds quiz and a presentation to former NRSF Chairman Rita Peace by her successor, Edward Lambert, to mark her three year tenure in the Chair.

The quiz is available to download by clicking here - answers are at the bottom of this page, so don't scroll down until you've had a go at working them out!! The winner on the day was Stella Lambert, 2nd was the Cassie-Wainwright family and 3rd was Helen Brewis.
